The Data Center Nongsa, strategically located within Nongsa Digital Park in Batam, is part of Indonesia’s broader push to strengthen its digital ecosystem and become a competitive regional hub for cloud computing, fintech, e-commerce, and big data.
Developed to serve both local and international tech players, this facility is designed for high availability, maximum uptime, and regulatory compliance—all of which require a high-performance, resilient MEP foundation. Our company was proud to be entrusted with the complete Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) package for this mission-critical development.
About the Project
Nongsa Digital Park has been designated a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for digital innovation, aiming to attract foreign investment and strengthen Indonesia’s position in the digital economy. The Data Center Nongsa plays a pivotal role in this vision, offering a secure and strategically located facility to handle vast amounts of data generated by businesses in the region and beyond.
Its proximity to Singapore—a global digital and financial hub—adds a cross-border advantage, enabling lower latency and connectivity for international clients while remaining under Indonesian data sovereignty laws.
With the high-performance expectations of data centers—including strict temperature control, uninterrupted power, and stringent fire safety protocols—MEP systems are a foundational element of the project’s success.
Our MEP Scope of Work
Our team delivered a full suite of MEP solutions designed specifically for data center environments:
1. Plumbing System
We developed a plumbing system to support daily facility needs, including potable water, process water, and general utilities. It’s built to be efficient, durable, and easy to maintain in a high-tech setting.
2. Sewage Treatment Plumbing
A reliable sewage treatment system ensures the facility meets environmental compliance, with efficient waste handling and treatment tailored to the operational demands of a 24/7 facility.
3. MVAC System (Mechanical Ventilation & Air Conditioning)
To maintain strict temperature and humidity levels in server rooms, we installed a high-performance MVAC system featuring redundancy, zoning, and automated control for optimal energy use and consistent cooling.
4. Fire Protection System
This includes a combination of gas suppression systems, sprinklers, and manual firefighting points. The solution was designed to suppress fires quickly without damaging sensitive IT equipment.
5. Fire Alarm System
Integrated heat and smoke detectors, audible/visual alarms, and control panels provide early detection and fast response capabilities, connected to the central monitoring system.
6. Electrical & Power Distribution System
We delivered a robust power infrastructure featuring dual-feed systems, UPS integration, and secure power distribution across all critical and non-critical zones. The design supports uninterrupted service with failover capacity.
7. Lightning Protection System
Given Batam’s tropical climate, we implemented a high-grade lightning protection system to protect sensitive electrical and IT components from surges and power spikes.
8. Earthing System
An effective grounding system minimizes electrical noise and supports safe operation across all systems, particularly critical in a data center where precision matters.
9. Lighting System
We installed energy-efficient, low-heat LED lighting throughout the facility—balancing functionality, energy savings, and low maintenance.
10. Public Address System
A central PA system ensures reliable communication for both day-to-day coordination and emergency alerts throughout the premises.
