As part of Indonesia’s national drive to expand mineral downstreaming and industrial self-sufficiency, the development of a smelter in Sumbawa required a well-equipped, self-sustaining camp to support on-site operations. The Utility System for the Smelter Camp at Otakeris Area plays a crucial role in enabling daily activities for workers, engineers, and technical teams operating in a remote mining environment.
Our company was appointed to deliver the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) works for this vital infrastructure, ensuring that the camp operates efficiently, safely, and reliably despite the challenges of a remote, off-grid setting.
About the Project
The smelter camp is designed to accommodate staff and contractors who manage and support the nearby mineral processing facility. Located in the Otakeris Area of Sumbawa, the camp includes housing, offices, service buildings, and support utilities that require a stable and well-integrated MEP system.
The project serves as a backbone for operations—providing access to clean water, electrical power, road lighting, and fuel systems needed for daily functions and emergency readiness. These systems were designed for scalability and resilience, supporting long-term use in a demanding industrial zone.
Our MEP Scope of Work
We provided a complete utility solution with a strong focus on durability, safety, and ease of maintenance, including the following key systems:
1. Plumbing System
A full clean water and wastewater network designed to meet hygiene and daily needs for both residential and operational areas of the camp.
2. Fresh Water Storage Tank – 1000 m3
We installed a large-capacity storage tank to ensure a consistent and adequate water supply for the entire facility. The tank is built for corrosion resistance and long-term reliability, crucial in remote and harsh environments.
3. Electrical & Power Distribution System
Our electrical system provides stable power across the camp, with well-structured load distribution, grounding, and protective systems to ensure uninterrupted operation.
4. Feeder Cable MV 24kV
We deployed medium-voltage feeder cables (24kV) to transmit electricity from generation sources to various zones within the camp, designed for performance and safety under rugged conditions.
5. Fuel Tank System
To support generators, vehicles, and equipment, we built a secure fuel storage system equipped with safety features such as containment bunds, leak detection, and fire protection.
6. Lightning & Earthing System
Our comprehensive lightning protection and earthing solution ensures the safety of personnel and electrical systems, especially critical in open and exposed locations like mining sites.
7. Lighting PJU (Penerangan Jalan Umum)
We installed energy-efficient street lighting throughout the camp’s roads and public areas to ensure visibility and safety for workers during night hours.
